Welcome to The Center for Teaching and Research Excellence

What is the Center for Teaching and Research Excellence (CTRE)?
The Office of the Provost is proud to introduce to the CSU campus community, the new Center for Teaching and Research Excellence (CTRE)! The CTRE will be launched Fall 2009. The CTRE was created to design to implement faculty development programming to continually and effectively meet the teaching and research needs of the faculty. In addition, the CTRE will serve as a clearinghouse for information and resources faculty may need to help facilitate their professional growth. The skills, knowledge, creativity, commitment, and motivation faculty bring to their work lie at the core of CSU's ability to successfully foster a healthy learning environment and exceed students' expectations.
The CTRE is comprised of five areas of professional development geared toward ensuring that all CSU faculty members have the opportunity to enjoy prosperous careers. These areas include: 1) Induction, Immersion, and Mentorship; 2) Performance Excellence; 3) Instructional Technology Integration; 4) Research Excellence and 5) Information Enhancement. Each area has an assigned Faculty Associate to manage and promote its specific activities.
CTRE's Mission
Chicago State University's Center for Teaching and Research Excellence (CTRE) promotes faculty excellence through all stages of the faculty member’s academic career: it fosters a community of practice, encourages innovative research; enhances the teaching and learning process; integrates technology effectively, and improves service to the university and community.
To be a teacher in the right sense is to be a learner. I am not a teacher, only a fellow student. --
