To contribute to the multicultural context of the university by promoting cultural programs and events that raise consciousness about Hispanic issues and cultural contributions.
The LRC sponsors a series of cultural programs commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month. The series of events are open to the CSU community as well as the community at large. During this month-long celebration, the contributions of Latino/Hispanic Americans are emphasized through lectures, seminars, dramatizations, and poetry readings. The colorful and rich traditions of the Latino/Hispanic culture are also showcased.
To serve as the CSU liaison in the Hispanic communities by creating partnerships that will enhance community efforts in the areas of education, community service and economic development.
To serve the university in all efforts that contribute to the overall success and education of all CSU students.
In an effort to reach out to the Latino communities of Chicago, the Latino Resource Center and the Office of Admissions have initiated an informative program, ¡Adelante!: Knowledge is POWER. The goal of the program is to promote higher education among prospective and current Latin(o/a) CSU students and their parents. Information relevant to financial aid and scholarships, and the process of selecting and applying to a university are addressed.
