Admissions Process

Students who complete the Engineering Studies Curriculum at Chicago State University with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5/4.99 will qualify for admissions to Accredited Program in Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) or the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).  Prior to transfer, the program allows for dual registration at either IIT or UIC after completing the equivalent of one year of full-time transferable academic coursework and maintaining at least a 2.5+ grade point average.  Dual registration also permits students to enroll in special summer courses at IIT and UC.  The Engineering Studies curriculum at CSU articulates with all Baccalaureate Programs at IIT and UIC.

Admission Requirements:

To qualify for admission to the Engineering Studies Program, applicants must be in the top half of their high school graduating class and satisfy each of the following criteria:

  1. A minimum ACT composite score of 18 or rank in the top 5% of their high school graduating class;
  2. Should have three years regular high school mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or College Algebra).  Computer math is not applicable.
  3. Three years of natural science, at least two of which should be laboratory science.  (Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
