Dean of the College of Education

Chicago State University invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Education. The Dean is responsible for providing vision and leadership in the planning, development and overall administration of the College's undergraduate and graduate programs.

The College emphasizes innovative field-based teaching as it offers seven (7) undergraduate degrees, twelve (12) graduate degrees, including the doctorate in Educational Leadership and collaborates with the College of Arts and Sciences to offer nine (9) secondary education programs. All undergraduate and graduate programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. The College has been continuously accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since 1954.

Qualifications: Possesses an earned doctorate in one of the educational disciplines found within the College from an accredited university and is eligible for the rank of professor, with tenure. The successful candidate will also have a record of scholarly activity and successful grantsmanship; knows best practices in the field of Education; has experience with NCATE and other appropriate specialized accrediting activities. A commitment to promoting diversity, multiculturalism and academic excellence is essential.  Candidate must have demonstrated success in the following areas:  fiscal and budgetary oversight, enrollment management, and experience as a department chair, assistant / associate dean, or similar position.

The preferred candidate will also have experience working with urban educational systems and collective bargaining units.  Expertise in initiating collaborative relationships within and beyond the College is highly desirable.

The salary will be commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
