Tenure Track Faculty Position in the Elementary Education Program
Rank of Position: Assistant Professor

The Department of Reading and Elementary Education (REEL) at Chicago State University invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Elementary Education Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to teach in the Elementary Education Program, specifically the social studies methods course, the fine arts methods course and the Elementary Education foundations course; and conduct academic advisement for Elementary Education majors. In addition, the candidate is expected to engage in research and publication; collaborate with faculty in the development of expanded programs; and, serve on committees.  

Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate is required to have the following:
1. a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in social studies or related field preferably /ABD considered (doctorate must be completed by August 2009);
2. a masters degree in social studies or related field;
3. Illinois Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in social studies;
4. evidence of teaching at the college or university level, minimum two years (preferred)
5. evidence of a minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level;
6. experience using technology, such as Blackboard, live text, etc.

Salary and Rank: Salary and fringe benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: Fall 2008
