Dr. Patricia Steinhaus is a tenured associate professor. She also currently serves as project director of the Early Reading First collaboration with Hull House Association, and is continuing research in pre-primary literacy acquisition. She earned master’s degrees from NIU and SIU-E, and a doctorate from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with dissertation research focused on pre-primary literacy acquisition. She started in the profession in 1972, and has worked as the teacher for groups of two-year olds, three-year olds, as a center director, as a state pre-kindergarten teacher for ten years, and as a consultant for the Early Childhood Division of the ISBE supervising childhood and literacy programs across the state. She was a teaching assistant at UIUC and a lecturer at SIU-E before coming to CSU.
