Dr. Sureshani Paintal  received her master's degree from Northern Illinois University and doctorate from Pennsylvania State University in Early Childhood Education.  She is a tenured professor of Early Childhood Education at Chicago State University. She has worked in the field of early childhood education in many capacities:  teacher's assistant in laboratory settings, classroom teacher, developed and directed university laboratory preschool, Head Start director, consultant and professor at community college and university levels.  Dr. Paintal has researched and published in the areas of social competence of preschool children and relationships between teacher beliefs and teaching practices, ACEI's parent brochure on "Homework guidelines" and ACEI's position statement on "Banning Corporal Punishment of Children". She has presented at CMAEYC, NAEYC and National Head Start Conference.
