The Technology and Education Program prepares teachers and other education personnel to plan, organize, deliver, evaluate, supervise and coordinate business-, technical- and consumer-related instruction. This aids the university in accomplishing its mission to:
1) provide access to higher education for residents of the region, the state and beyond, with an emphasis on meeting the educational needs of promising graduates from outstanding secondary schools as well as educating students where academic and personal growth potential and promise may have been inhibited by lack of economic, social, or educational opportunity and 2) produce graduates who are responsible, discerning and informed global citizens with a commitment to lifelong learning and service.
Students who complete programs in the department are prepared to: (1) serve in teaching and leadership positions in education, business, industrial and government settings; 2) engage in business and technical-related research and development activities and; (3) work in supervisory and managerial positions in education, business/industrial and governmental operations.
Programs in the department carry out the College of Education’s commitment to prepare knowledgeable and competent practitioners who are: dedicated to serving educational needs of students with variety of abilities and backgrounds; responsible participants in the quest for improvement of the nation’s school, the teaching profession, and operations in business and industry.
