SPORT STUDIES:

Sport and fitness conditioning is every-where. Children grow up playing pick-up games, being involved in sport leagues, and participating in favorite family sporting activities. Adults have been flocking to sport and fitness facilities in the quest to improve their physical as well as mental well-being. Because of this we have seen a rapid expansion of career opportunities in the field of sport management and fitness management.

The Sport Studies program at Chicago State University provides students with a well-rounded examination of the history, nature, provision and management of the sport and fitness fields. This is achieved by combining courses from two accredited fields of study at CSU (Recreation and Physical Education) as well as courses in management and business.

Career possibilities in the realm of sport management and fitness management include management positions in professional, amateur, municipal sport authorities, and nonprofit youth agencies with sport programs (YMCAs, YWCAs, etc.). In addition, career possibilities exist in several industries including those that deal with youth sports camps, corporate fitness/wellness programs, fitness specialists, sport event planning, sports information, sports marketing, tourism, and commercial recreation (resorts, sports delivery). We offer TWO specialties within Sport Studies: SPORT MANAGEMENT and FITNESS MANAGEMENT
