HEALTH EDUCATION (requirements after June 2005)

HEALTH EDUCATION ENDORSEMENT (Grades 9 through 12)

The State of Illinois requires either 24 credit hours of health courses with the passing of the Content-Area Health Test.  Only the state can approve of the health courses you have taken that apply to the endorsement.

HEALTH EDUCATION ENDORSEMENT (Middle School)

Requirements are the same as listed above with additional courses in middle school psychology and middle school curriculum.

If you have not submitted your transcripts to the Illinois State Board of Education for evaluation towards an endorsement, PLEASE DO SO IMMEDIATELY.  The state will send you a deficiency statement explaining the requirements needed for you to obtain the health endorsement.  You do not want to second-guess what you need.  Get it in writing!  The Illinois State Board of Education site is www.isbe.net.

GETTING STARTED at CSU

If you are not currently taking courses as an officially admitted CSU graduate student, you must be processed as a graduate student-at-large.  Please call the Graduate Studies Office at 773.995.2404 to begin the process. Ask the representative in that office about registration procedures.  It is wise to register early and pay on time.  These courses tend to fill quickly.  If you do not pay on time, you will lose your place in class.  You will find all information about registration at the www.csu.edu website.  You may call the  Graduate Studies Office for a RAP/PIN number to register or Extension Services at 773-995-2576.
