Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Physics

The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Physics, as well as courses in physical science. We also run several special projects, including MBRS, the Chemistry Van, the Physics Van, and Science Fair Central. Our students have a chemistry club (NOBCChE) and a physics club (Society of Physics Students). We've implemented innovations in teaching and assessment, and we maintain active research programs. Check out some of our photos, and meet our faculty and staff.

Internships

Interested in an internship?  The department compiles information about potential internships in the city and the nation available to chemistry and physics students.  Click here for the internship web site.

Department education highlights

In the Department of Chemisry and Physics at CSU we seek to foster students' conceptual understanding of chemistry and physics.  Courses are structured around inquiry and hand-on learning.  Tutoring and support are available to help students succeed. Click here for the tutoring schedule.

Chemistry majors desiring to set a time to meet with an advisor should use the chemistry advising site. Physics majors should contact the departmental office (x2180) to be connected to the advisor on duty.

Scholarship programs are available for motivated students seeking to further their careers in science.  For instance, MBRS provides support for undergraduates who plan to pursue graduate degrees.
