Peer Engineering Mentoring Program:

The Engineering Studies Office at Chicago State University is pleased to offer the Peer Engineering Mentoring (PEM) Program.  Sophomore and junior students have already experienced the triumphs and trials of the first year of college at Chicago State University.  Freshman and transfer students need a supportive environment to adjust academically and socially to college life.  Upper-division CSU engineering students will volunteer their time to be peer mentors. Peer mentors can be good sources for information, help, and friendship. The goal of the PEM program is for new students and peer mentors to develop an open, friendly communication line where they encourage and support one another in their academics, career choice and personal decisions with the objective of providing assistance which will lead to success in the CSU engineering curriculum. Each new student who enrolls in the PEM Program will be assigned at least one peer mentor.  (Mentoring is a relationship between individuals for mutual learning and influence…Adams, 1998)
