About Athletics

Chicago State University has been a member of the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) since 1984 and a member of the Mid-Continent Conference since 1994.

Each sport at Chicago State offers athletes, athletic scholarships to the full compliment allowed under NCAA rules and regulations. Student-athletes receive strong academic support ranging from a study hall, complete with computers and access to tutors that help enhance their academic studies.

During the 2004-05 school year, Cougar athletics showed continuing successes both in and out of the classroom as 11 athletes captured Mid-Con Athlete or Player of the Week honors on 14 occasions in various sports. In addition to the athletic achievements, 29 Chicago State athletes earned Academic All Mid-Con honors while 15 athletes received their degrees at CSU's 2005 commencement ceremonies last May. Four of the 15 graduates completed their academic coursework with a grade point average of 3.0 and above.

•  Volleyball team set new school records for total wins in NCAA Division I (12) and Mid-Con play (7)

•  Women's Basketball tyed the school record for most victories in the NCAA Division I era set in 2002-03

•  Men's indoor track team placed fourth at the Mid-Con Indoor Championship Meet as six members of the team received All-Conference honors.

•  Five CSU men's and women's tennis players earned All Mid-Con honors.
