CSU Fringe Benefit Rate

Shown below are the fringe benefit calculations for grant related employment:

1.Full Time Regular Employment - Faculty / Administrator / Civil Service - 100% Employment to the Grant - Employment Start Date After April 1, 1986.
Retirement - 11.00% of Gross Wages from Grant
Insurance - $400 - $600 per month depending on benefit package
Social Security - 1.45% of Gross Wages from Grant

2.Full Time Regular Employment - Faculty / Administrator / Civil Service - 100% Employment to the Grant - Employment Start Date After April 1, 1996.
Retirement - 11.00% of Gross Wages from Grant
Insurance - $400 - $600 per month depending on benefit package

3. Full Time Regular Employment - Faculty / Administrator / Civil Service - 50% Employment to the Grant.
Retirement - 11.00% of Gross Wages from Grant
Insurance - $400 - $600/Mo. X 50% depending on benefit package
Social Security - 1.45% of Gross Wages from Grant if Start Date after 4/1/86

4.Overrides - Salary in Addition to Regular Full Time Effort.
The Personnel Form Should Specifically State That Wages to the Grant are an Override.
Retirement - 11.00% of Gross Wages from Grant
Social Security - 1.45% of Gross Wages from Grant

5.Part Time Staff/Extra Help - Less Than Four Months Employment
Social Security - 7.65% of Gross Wages from Grant

6. Part Time Staff/Extra Help - More Than Four Months Employment
Retirement - 11.00% Gross Wages from Grant
Social Security - 1.45% of Gross Wages from Grant

7.Graduate Student Assistants
Social Security - 7.65% of Gross Wages from Grant8. Undergrad Students/Foreign

The rates approved in this agreement are for use on grants, contracts and other agreements with the federal government subject to the conditions in section III.

BASE:

Modified total direct costs, consisting of all salaries and wages, fringe benefits, materials, supplies, services, travel and subgrants and subcontracts up to the first $25,000 of each subgrant or subcontract (regardless of the period covered by the subgrant or subcontract). Modified total direct costs shall exclude equipment, capital expenditures, charges for patient care, tuition remission, rental costs of of-site facilities, scholarships, and fellowship as well as the portion of each subgrant and subcontract in excess of $25,000.
