Certificate in Alcohol and Drugs Counselor Training (AODA)
Minor Sequence for Psychology Majors
The new minor in Psychology consists of courses which result in a Certificate in Alcohol and Drugs Counselor Training. This minor qualifies prospective counselors to sit for the State Certification Examination through IAODAPCA, IC&RD, and NADAAC. The minor requires successful completion of 18-21 credit hours.
The program pre-requisites are:
Successful completion of Psy 1100, Psyc 2040/2000, and Psyc 4155/5155 Successful completion of English, Mathematics, and Reading Examinations.
*Note, students who have obtained a Bachelors degree are exempt from this requirement.
A GPA of 2.5 or higher

Psychology 4205/5205: Psychology of Drug Addiction
Psychology 4200/5200: Pharmacology for Addictions
Psychology 4201/5201: Ethics and Addictions
Psychology 4203/5203: Community & Domestic Violence / Addictions Psychology 4202/5202: Chemical Dependency Counseling
Psychology 4206/5206: Addiction Assessment / Case Management
Psychology 4204/5204: AODA Internship Examination Review (Required by all AODA program participants)
