The Department of Reading, Elementary, Middle School, and Bilingual Education (REMB) at Chicago State University invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Elementary Education Program.
Duties:
The candidate is expected to engage in research, publish, advise in the Elementary Education Program, and teach courses relevant to current and future issues associated with Science teaching methods and Elementary Education Foundations. In addition, candidates will be expected to collaborate with faculty in the development of new courses and/or programs and serve on committees.
Qualifications:
The candidate is required to have the following:
- Doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in Science or Elementary educational Foundations or related field (ABD considered but doctorate must be completed by August 2010);
- Evidence of five years teaching experience at the elementary, middle grade or secondary level; and
- Experience using technology, such as Blackboard, Live Text, Microsoft Office, etc.
Other Qualifications Desired:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science discipline and/or a Master’s in educational foundations or related field;
- K-8 Certification with an endorsement in science (State of Illinois Certification preferred); and
- Evidence of teaching at the college or university level, minimum two years.
Salary and Rank:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Starting Date: Spring 2010
