(Freshman Leadership Institute)
Freshman Convocation
August 17th and 18th
What is F.L.I. (Freshman Leadership Institute)?

F.L.I. (Freshman Leadership Institute) is Chicago State University’s two-day freshman retreat.  It is a program designed to help you transition into Chicago State University, teach you our traditions, and introduce you to the Chicago State experience.  As a Cougar, you are now part of a rich tradition, and we want to make sure that you get off on the right foot.  Please keep in mind that F.L.I. is mandatory for all new freshmen.

 What is Convocation?

Freshman Convocation is an annual tradition when all freshmen are officially inducted into their graduating class, and their academic careers officially begin at Chicago State University. Students are welcomed to the university community by the President, Provost, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Dean of First Year Experience, faculty, and staff. Freshman Convocation is a celebration of university life and Chicago State University traditions. Freshman Convocation provides students with an opportunity to gather with their classmates and join the CSU academic community through a major campus event.  It is one of the few times that the class will gather together prior to graduation.  Following Convocation there is lunch and a fun-filled day of activities.
