CSU Online Support for Faculty
All faculty interested in offering a CSU Online course must first receive approval from the appropriate Department Chair, and College Dean. A "Faculty Online Course Request Form" is available for approvals of courses offered completely online or as a supplement to an on-campus course from the link below. Faculty are strongly encouraged to participate in a Distance Learning "Faculty Development Workshop" a semester prior to the semester the course will be offered. Check with the Office of Distance Learning (ODL) about scheduled workshops or any additional information: (773) 995-2960 or via e-mail at OD-Learning@csu.edu
Getting Connected
To teach an online course you need CSU e-mail address and access to the Internet. Faculty have fee access to the Internet by dialing the universitys system. Dial-up numbers are available in the Informational Technology (ITD) website at http://www.csu.edu/itd/itservices/dialupnumbers.htm. As CSU faculty you have been assigned an E-mail address and receive free e-mail service.
You may however, choose another service provider. Any company that allows you to call their system via a telephone line in order to connect to the Internet is an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Once you subscribe your provider will provide you with the information needed to connect to the Internet. To access the world wide web you will need a browser. We strongly recommend you use either Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer (Both are free for downloading).
