Mission and Vision of the HIV/AIDS

Mission
The mission of the HIV/AIDS Research and Policy Institute (HARPI) is to address the disproportionate incidence and complex burdens of HIV/AIDS in minority populations through research and policy.

Vision
The HIV/AIDS Research and Policy Institute will serve as a center of research excellence. It will also serve as a center for training and capacity building for community-based organizations and agencies.
To be effective in doing this, we will embark on seeking external funds to establish new research projects and recruit competent faculty and researchers.

The Institute currently draws from the expertise and intellectual talents of Chicago State University faculty and researchers with research experience in public health, behavioral and biological sciences, population-based needs assessment, program evaluation, communication and social marketing. The Institute works to facilitate research, policy analysis, and service that are culturally sensitive and responsive to the complexities of HIV/AIDS that fuel the epidemic in minorities, particularly within African American populations.
