| EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH AWARD
The Employee of the Month honor is bestowed on the faculty or staff member or administrator who has made significant contributions to the college that go beyond "the call of duty" in grantsmanship, scholarship, teaching innovation or service. These individuals are commended for their hard work and dedication to the mission of the College. The recipients are the following individuals:
October 2009

Dr. Emmanuel Osunkoya is the Employee of the Month for October 2009. He is being recognized for providing effective leadership in coordinating faculty development activities.
September 2009

Ms. Ivonne Anguh was the Employee of the Month for September 2009 for the College of Health Sciences. She was recognized for enthusiastically accepting additional roles and responsibilities assigned to her.
July 2009

Dr. Rachelle Stewart was the Employee of the Month for July 2009 She was recognized for her recent efforts at developing a strong alumni network for the Department of Health Information Administration.
June 2009

Dr. Titilayo Abiona was the Employee of the Month for June 2009. She was recognized as the lead author of manuscripts accepted for
publication in two prestigious high impact scientific journals (Journal of the National Medical Association,Vol 101, 4:
308-315, 2009 and the
International Journal of Prisoner Health 5 (2): 59-70, 2009).
May 2009

Dr. Linda Hureston was the Employee of the Month for May 2009. She was recognized for showcasing the assessment
process in the Department of Nursing at the campus-wide Assessment Fair on April 23, 2009.

Dr. Patricia Prendergast was the Employee of the Month for April 2009. She was recognized for providing the leadership that led to a successful holiday party and the exceptional performance of the Department of Nursing graduates on the NCLEX-RN exam

Dr. Titilayo Abiona and Ms. Monique Germain were the Employees of the Month for November 2008. They were recognized for submitting a training grant tiltled "Targeted Breast Health Promotion and Education Program" to the Susan Komen Foundation.

Mrs. Sandra Fuller and Mr. Abimbola Adeleke were the employees of the Month for May 2008. Mrs Sandra Fuller and Mr. Abimbola Adeleke were both recognized for working tirelessly with the Dean in producing the 9th Annual College Colloquium Program Guide and Slide Presentation Compendium.

Ms. Sarah Austin was the Employee of the Month for January 2008. She was recognized for superior mentoring of three graduate students research project which was presented at a national conference.

Ms. Regina Smith was the Employee of the Month for December 2007. She was recognized for effective leardership in coordinating a successful college holiday party.
November 2007

Dr. Adedeji Adefuye was the Employee of the Month for November 2007. He was recognized for securing grant funding from the Ilinois Board of Higher Education for the Transitional Allied Health Education Partnership.

Dr. Adedeji Adefuye and Dr. William Ebomoyi were the Employees of the Month for October 2007. They were both recognized for taking their leadership roles in coordinating the College activities for the campus wide Open House event held on Saturday, October 6, 2007.

Ms. Lisa Young was the employee of the month for September 2007. She was recognised for her leadership role in coordinating the College activities for CSU's 140th Anniversary event held on Saturday, September 8, 2007.
May 2007
Dr. Adedeji Adefuye was the Employee of the Month for May 2007. Dr. Adefuye was recognized for submitting a $358,060 grant to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
April 2007
Dr. Adedeji Adefuye and Dr. Titilayo Abiona were the Employees of the Month for April 2007. Drs. Adefuye and Abiona were recognized for submitting a 2 years grant entitled "Social-Cultural Determinants of Heterosexual Behavior of African American Men in Chicago" to the National Institute of Health (NIH) for $428,200 grant.

Ms. Leona Thomas was the Employee of the Month for March 2007. She was recognized for providing effective leadership in revising the Department Application of Criteria document and conducting a successful search for a new chairperson for the Department of Health Information Administration.

Dr. Titilayo Abiona was the Employee of the Month for February 2007. Dr. Abiona was recognized for submitting a grant proposal entitled, "Contextual Determinants of HIV Risk Among Crack-Cocaine Users in Chicago" to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Dr. Patricia Sloan and Dr. Patricia Prendergast were the Employees of the Month for January 2007. Drs. Sloan and Prendergast were recognized for their significant contribution on a Retention/Faculty Development grant submitted to the Community Trust Foundation.

Dr. William Ebomoyi and Dr. Tunde Akinmoladun were the Employees of the Month for December 2006. They were recognized for their significant contribution to the R01 grant proposal submitted to the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Patricia Sloan, Dr. Mainza Lukobo-Durrell and Dr. Titilayo Abiona were the Employees of the Month for November 2006. Drs. Sloan, Lukobo-Durrell and Abiona were recognized for their significant contribution to the CSU's Center for Research Excellence grant proposal submitted to the National Center for Minority Health Disparity Research Center.

Ms. Leslie Roundtree and Ms. Regina Smith were the Employees of the Month for October 2006. They were recognized for their significant contribution to the grant proposal submitted to the U.S. Department of Education.

Ms. Lisa Young was the Employee of the Month for September 2006. Ms. Young was recognized for working collaboratively with colleagues in producing an insignia for the college.

- Congratulations to Ms. Lisa Young for being chosen to serve on the National League for Nursing Accreditation Council (NLNAC) Standards and Criteria Master's Subcommittee.
- On December 2, 2006, Ms. Ruth Phillips, of the Department of Nursing, participated as a panelist in a symposium hosted by the Pan-African Association in Rogers Park. The event, along with other activities, was held to mark World AIDS Day which is December 1st.
- Professor Dorcas Williams has completed her doctorate (EdD) from Nova Southeastern University. Congratulations Dr. Williams!
- Congratulations to Professor Rose Reed-Murry for presenting a workshop at the National Black Nurses Association conference in Florida, August 9-13, 2006.
- Congratulations to Professor Sarah Austin for presenting her research at the World Occupational Therapy Federation 2006 Congress in Sydney, Australia in July 2006.
- Professor Melanie Ellexson traveled to Chernivitsi, Ukraine in May 2006. While in the Ukraine, Professor Ellexson provided occupational therapy services to underserved communities. The service learning project was a requirement of her doctoral program at the University of Indianapolis.
Academic Unit ~ Service Unit News
August 2006 -
- Congratulations to the Department of Nursing Faculty and Staff and the 2006 Department of Nursing graduates. The 2006 graduating class attained a 96% Pass Rate on the NCLEX-RN. This score is above State and National averages.
- It's Official! IBHE approved the new Dept. of Health Studies and the Bachelor of Science degree programs in Community Health and Pre-Physical Therapy.
- The Dept. of Occupational Therapy received seven year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
March 2005 -
- The Dept. of Nursing received eight year accreditation, with a two-year report, from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
