Grand Opening of the CSU-CPS-CTU
National Board Resource Center

We in the College of Education have partnered with the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union to provide teacher induction services by opening a National Board Resource Center (NBRC) at Chicago State University (ED 201). This Center had its Grand Opening on February 24, 2006 from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. It provides services to our alums who work in the CPS. To assist them, our Teachers' Writing and Resource Center (TWRC) will also mentor our graduates by accessing the instructional resources that will help to support their use of best teaching practices as they pursue NBC status.

*Please be patient and allow presentation to load for at least 2 minutes.

We encourage and recruit our graduates to apply for National Board Certification status. In addition, we have identified numerous College of Education alums who continue to grow as teacher leaders, serve on school committees, assist us with writing curricula and mentor our new teacher graduates to improve student learning. National Board Certification is currently the only means to achieve the Illinois Master Teaching Certificate and is also an option for achieving or renewing the Illinois Standard Teaching Certificate. Go to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) web link at http://www.nbpts.org/ to view our progress.
