VISION
The Department envisions all graduates as global leaders in their chosen profession. Who will possess the knowledge base and skills required to transform their professional disciplines. Through best practice of current trends, research and scholarship, they will exhibit the dispositions needed to effect change.
MISSION
The mission of the Department is to offer quality programming and services that emphasize practical application of discipline specific content knowledge and technological expertise to service populations of diverse backgrounds and ability. This will be accomplished by providing a learning environment that encourages self-reflection, personal and social responsibility, professionalism, and an appreciation for community and professional service. This requires focusing programmatic development from information obtained through regular valid and reliable assessment using national and state standards as the structural foundation for improvement.
GOALS
- Develop the content and technological knowledge and skills required to effectively compete in and contribute to the development of an ethical, diverse society.
- Recruit, retain and graduate dedicated professionals through the development of community/professional/school partnerships and expect dedication and personal best effort in achieving program objectives.
- Model best practices in teaching, research and service and by exhibiting the professional dispositions expected of our student body.
- Provide opportunities for students to develop self-reflection and assessment skills required to make the changes needed for best practice.
- Encourage professional development through participation in professional organizations, majors clubs and service projects.
