All programs in the College of Education (College) at Chicago State
University are designed to develop outstanding education professionals who teach, manage instructional programs, oversee educational institutions, and serve in various leadership capacities in Pre-K-12 schools and beyond. The success of our programs is documented by the fact that the College has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since 1954. In addition to NCATE accreditation, all programs in the College are accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Board of Higher Education. Individual specialized professional organizations and associations and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) also accredit our programs.
As Dean, one of my primary goals is to foster and support the quality and accountability that has gained program approval and continued re-accreditation for the College for more than half a century and will result in NCATE re-accreditation, once again, in 2012. I will also orchestrate concerted efforts to insure that each day I serve as Dean is more effective than the previous one. Finally, I remain keenly aware that fulfilling these undertakings is vitally dependent on the support and assistance of the committed team that comprises the College as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
