Summary of Trend Data for Assessment Findings Department/Program INSY (MIS) Assessment Coordinator Dr. Saleem Abuleil
1- New computers installed in the computer lab [2006/2007]
2- New courses have been created and taught under INSY4900 “Special Topics
in Information Systems”: [2006-2009]
a.Telecommunications & Computer Networks
b. E-commerce & Web Development.
c. Ethics in Information Technology
3- Textbook and computer application have been changed and updated to MS-Office 2003 [2005-2008]
4- Three courses offered On-Line: INSY 1370, INSY 3270 and INSY 4900: Ethics in Information Technology [2006-2009]
5- New MIS Curriculum adopted. The new curriculum of MIS updates the description for most of the courses,and adds new courses such as Computer Systems, Computer Networks, and E-commerce. [2008/2009]
6- User friendly software (editor and compiler) installed in the computer lab for Java Language to be used for both INSY 2840 and INSY 3100 course. [2008/2009]
7- New computers and LCD screens installed in the computer lab [2008/2009]
8- Textbook and computer applications have been changed and updated to MS-Office 2007 for online courses [2008/2009]
9- CASE tools such as System Architect and MS-Visio installed and used for classes (INSY 3280: Database Technologies and INSY4300: System Analysis and Design) [2006/2007]
10- MS-Project installed in the computer lab and used for INSY 4300: System Analysis and Design [2007/2008]
11- New book used for INSY 4300: System Analysis and Design [2007/2008] 12- The name of the program has been changed from Information Systems to Management Information Systems
13- New website published shows the program plan and course description[2007/2008]
14 -Questions in the exit review about INSY (MIS) major have been revised and updated to match the new curriculum. [2008/2009]
The University Assessment Report chose INSY assessment report and used it as a sample for 2008-2009 Academic year. “The Information Systems report discusses data from assessments related to two courses,INSY 1370 and INSY 4300, as well as an exit survey. The results reflect outstanding studentachievement, at or above the 80th percentile,for relevant outcomes. A wide variety of courseand program modifications have occurred to facilitate these results and to extend them further. They include designing new courses and adopting new texts, as well as online course provision and the purchase andinstallation of software applications for related classes.”
