Guidelines for Final Report

written Report: Each paper will be evaluated on its organization (flow, clarity, grammar), content, background research, analysis of the company's industry and the intern's position/duties/accomplishments. Criteria for Written Report: Each paper will be evaluated on its organization (flow, clarity, grammar), content, background research, analysis of the company's industry and the intern's position/duties/accomplishments.

1.12 to 15 pages in length, typed (word processor), double spaced with one-inch margins; bound with a cover or title page containing the following: Title of the Report; Name of Student, Major; Course Number, Term and Year; Name of Company and its address.

2.Acknowledgments: Message of gratitude to people you consulted or who assisted you.

3.Table of Contents

4.The written report divided into sections

a. Part 1: Analysis of the industry in which the company operates B explanation and description of the industry in which this company operates, include its scope, market outlook (see U.S. Bureau of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook), and any other pertinent data.

b. Part 2: Description of the company for which you work: a description of the host organization, its background B year established, founders, owners, growth; position in the industry; its target market; any unique characteristics.

c. Part 3: Description of the internship B describe what you did, primary duties, accomplishments; what you learned; level of preparedness; integration of coursework; what you needed or wished you had prior to the internship; and whether or not to recommend this company and its internship to other students.

5.List of References: list of books, articles, or other informational sources cited in the body of the report. Use American Psychological Association (APA), Manual of Style (University of Chicago), or Turabian's Manual of Style for the list of references and written style of report.

6.Appendix: Any support materials, items you produced.

7.Oral Presentation: Outline of your talk and copies of slides, overheads or PowerPoint visuals.

Oral Presentation:

Each oral presentation will be evaluated based upon its organization, professionalism, style, enthusiasm (salesmanship) and, if appropriate, visual support.

1. The presentation should be about 5 to 7 minutes in length

2. Provide an overview of the internship experience following the three parts of the written presentation

Effective with the Summer 1998 term Students enrolled in the BLHP will have a two-part final report. The first is written and the second is an oral presentation.
