The Department of History, Philosophy, and Political Science offers a Master of Arts degree in History, a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
The master's degree program offers study in American, African-American, Urban, European, and World History. The program is designed to meet the needs of secondary school history teachers and those preparing to teach history at the community college level.
The bachelor degree programs prepare students to pursue advanced degrees in their area of specialization as well as careers in law, public service, government, and foreign affairs.
In addition, the department provides an opportunity for students in other disciplines to pursue a concentrated study of history, philosophy, or political science by offering a minor in each of these areas.
