The Department of Art and Design at Chicago State University offers an accredited program leading to a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with majors in three options: Art, Design, and Art Education (K-12). Within these options there are six diverse artistic concentrations: Graphic Design, Multimedia, Studio Arts, Studio Crafts, Art History, and Art Education. These programs are designed to encourage students to develop their expressive capabilities and individual artistic perceptions. The art curriculum has flexibility allowing the student to pursue, in depth, their own personal interests in art. The department is housed in a building with spacious, well-equipped, specialized art studios, and a cutting-edge Macintosh computer lab. There are two galleries on campus with regularly scheduled exhibitions. The President's Gallery shows the work of nationally known professional artists and the University Gallery is maintained for the purpose of exhibiting student work.
