PREMAT Summer 2003

 

During the summer of 2003 the PREMAT program worked together to polish math, reading, writing, and scientific skills. The group also carried out research analyzing the lead content in the dirt around the CTA elevated sites near playgrounds, and learned biological techniques such a bacteriology and DNA electrophoresis. Below is a picture of the group.

Many students worked for several days in a biological laboratory learning how to process their own DNA and run an electrophoresis apparatus.

Several projects and presentations were carried out during the summer. Presentations were made about the National Institutes of Health and about international public health issues. Listed below are some of the public health presentations.
