The CTRE is dedicated to facilitating the skills, communication, and resources of academic advising at Chicago State University. Our resident Academic Advising Specialist is on hand to coordinate workshops, improve and clarify procedures, and aid in project management to furthering each of these goals.
This unit of the CTRE works closely with advisors, faculty, and staff to build a community among academic advisors in which best practices are shared, development opportunities are provided, and campus-wide initiatives and activities are implemented. This unit serves as a resource for academic issues, and engages in collaborative work with all of the colleges at CSU.
Chicago State University is a committed member of both the Illinois Academic Advising Association (ILACADA) and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). In keeping with the goals of both organizations, the academic advising team at CSU strives to realize the following objectives:
- Address the academic advising needs of higher education globally;
- Advance the body of knowledge of academic advising;
- Champion the educational role of academic advising to enhance student learning and development in a diverse world;
- Educate university and college decision makers about the role of quality academic advising in higher education
